The Rt Hon Baroness Ashton of Upholland was declared and sworn as Lord President of the Council on 28th June 2007.
Following a Machinery of Government review, the Prime Minister decided that in order to manage the functions of the Privy Council (PCO) better, these would be split between the Cabinet Office and the Ministry of Justice (MoJ).
On Monday 2 April, the Ministerial offices became part of the Cabinet Office and the PCO Secretariat and the Office of the Judicial Committee moved, retaining their separate and independent identity, to the Constitution Directorate of the MoJ whilst continuing to report to the Lord President of the Council.
PCO Secretariat business will continue as usual.
Her Majesty was pleased to appoint Judith Caroline Simpson as the new Clerk of the Council at the meeting of 13th June 2007.
